Microsoft Certifications
Microsoft provides Certifications for almost all Microsoft technologies. These technologies range from the ever common suite of Microsoft Office products and the Windows series of Operating Systems to the less known but widely used, especially in enterprises, the Microsoft Dynamics products to Microsoft Server technologies, .NET Framework. These certifications are essential if an individual is applying for a job that requires such experience or having such experience is an added advantage.
Certifications can be thought of as basically certificates that Microsoft issues to an individual after that individual passes an exam. The exam tests skills relevant to the Certification topic. After being awarded a certification, that individual use it alongwith other educational degrees as proof of his/her skills. At times employers may require such certification and many such jobs exist where such Certification is the only requirement. Such cases arise when only Microsoft technologies are being used. Such products as Microsoft Dynamics are mostly the only products used at Enterprise level. Additionally if a person wants to teach other people about the Microsoft Certifications then he/she has to a certified Trainer through Microsoft – yet another certification.
Certifications are generally divided into these various categories by profession. These are:
- Home or Office User (Non-IT Professional)
- IT Professionals
- Developer
- Advanced (Master, Architects)
- Trainers
Certification exams are normally carried out by Prometric and Certiport.
