Installation of D-Link Wireless Router
D-Link being specialized in networking equipment has made it way too easy to install almost any kind of router whether it is a wired one or wireless. Instructions to be followed
Step I: Before proceeding, one should keep in mind that the Ethernet cable is provided with the router. So, first step is just to disconnect the modem from its power source.
Step II: On the backside of modem, you will find an Ethernet cord that is connected to the computer. Just disconnect the cord from there but let the other end of the cord be connected with the modem. Take the disconnected end of the cord and now simply connect it with the internet port which is on the backside of the D-Link router. This port would be obvious from its color which would be unlike from others.
Step III: Third step includes bringing the Ethernet cord carefully which was provided with the D-Link Router and connect it to the Ethernet port which is on the backside of the router.
Step IV: Now connect the same cable to the Ethernet port which is on the backside of the PC from where the Ethernet cord was disconnected first.
Step V: Once done with the Ethernet cord, connect the modem power cord as well as the D-Link router power cord to its respective power sources.
Step VI: Finally, switch on the D-Link router; you will see flashing green lights which is the indication of good internet connection. Now you are all set to connect to the internet and enjoy browsing, suffering etc.
Precautionary Measures Taken after the Installation:
Once you are done with the Installation and setup procedure, you have to do nothing but to enjoy the internet service. NO! It is not like that. There are some things that one should keep in mind for being on the safe side because technologies do bring side effects with them. Some of the precautions one should take are as follow:
- After being done with the installation, do not forget to check the security settings because there are so many illegal users which can be harmful for your PC and one way to protect it is by setting a password for your network.
- Adding a printer with the wireless router is not a bad idea until and unless it is compatible with it.
- The flashing lights will help you to find out the problem with the connection.
- It is better to keep the wireless router 2 to 3 feet away from the internet modem.
- Most of the experts suggest Cat-5 Ethernet cable so go for it.
