The slave drive is not entirely dependent on the master drive. Most of the devices such as optical devices, tape drives and zip drives are jumpered in the same way as hard drive to act as master and slave. In jumpering two channel drives it must be ensured that they are jumpered correctly with the help of adapters other wise ambiguity can be the big distortion many operating system operations concerning the hard drives.

After jumpered connection as master and slave two drives can work simultaneously or tighter to act as secondary storage for storing large amount of data. they work by exchanging DASP drive Active/Signal present signal to work together in completing a single operation along the same path. Hard drives are the not the stand alone devices they sometime face compatibility problem when working with same standard device such as multi disk hard drives with dual operating system in this situation jumpering problem can interrupt the whole working and performance ultimately become low sometimes.
