Multicast Broadcast – Broadcast
When a separate device transmits an information or message to overall devices in specified address range, called Broadcast. In this situation, there is only one transmitter, but the message is distributed to all receivers who connect to the broadcast within range. Mostly advanced routers can block the traffic of IP broadcast and limited to the area subnet by designing.
So LANs mostly support the broadcast transmission such as Ethernet, and it is also possible that it can send the same information to all networks on Local Area Network for instance; ARP (address resolution protocol) is used to transmit an address resolution query to all systems or networks on LAN. The similar packet is allowed to send to each network in a logical network by a network layer protocols that hold a kind of broadcast
A specific protocol that uses with IP, called Multicast. A single or separate device is enabled by multicast to interconnect with a particular group of hosts, not described by any set IP address and combination of mask. Communication is allowed by this that similar to the conference call. Conference call can be joined by anyone from somewhere, and everyone can be able to hear the speaker saying in conference. The message or information of the speaker is not transmitted everywhere, except to those who has connected through conference call. Multicast communication is held by a specific set of addresses.
Multicast Broadcast Services (MBS)
MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast and Multicast services is broadcasting or transmitting service presented through offering cellular networks of UMTS and GSM. The basic application or function is mobile TV. An uplink channel option is offered to use by infrastructure for communication within the user and the service, which is not a simple problem and issue in general networks of broadcast, such as conventional or standard digital television is just a unidirectional (one-way) system. While MS is used for the most challenging and complicated multicast services.
